This dining establishment situated at the heart of Kreta Ayer had me won over.
Who would have imagine food served at this inconspicuous cafe to be such delight for the tastebuds.
Given the proliferation of new cafes here in recent years, it's so natural that the intense competition would have spurred many to place greater emphasis on profit objective at the expense of good service. & yknow it's been so long since I experience service standards worthy of my praises. 49 seats has not only won me over in terms of food standards, their impeccable service standards should be held as great exemplar to all restaurant/cafe owners.
I remember having the friendly middle aged auntie telling me "It's okay, let me do it!" when I conveniently stretched my arms out for my food at our crowded dining table. To think she'd rather stand there to help us arrange our dishes to make space for my food than to allow me to take my food swiftly from her, tells a lot. I'm very humbled by their personal touch & top-notch service standards.

You might have well read it elsewhere that 49 seats does literally have seats for 49! & I'm beginning to think 49's really their number because they are also situated at 49 Kreta Ayer Road. This amazing establishment charges no GST and service charge. NOW TELL MEEHHH WHERE WOULD YOU FIND SUCH A GREAT MAKAN PLACE! When you're out as a group, you wouldn't even have to split the extra charges amongst your friends? Plus I'm quite surprised that they are not fully packed on weekends.... I'm definitely not one who'd enjoy crowds. Now I'm beginning t fervently believe that good is an understatement for them.
I can hazzzzzzz the Classic Carbonara & i would gladly say this is one of the best on my list. Not too creamy to make you feel sick but it'd have been better if the spaghetti was cooked more al dente. However, I don't think I'd order this on my 2nd return though.
The Chicken Chop w Mushroom Sauce here is an ultimate legend. I am never a fan of chicken chops but the ravings of it had me dying to try em'. Ordered this to share amongst the 6 of us & I must say this perfect piece of char-grilled meat is just sheer bliss. Meat was so tender and succulent, the mushroom sauce that came along with it hits off so well with Chickie. Would be good if there were more sauce though. Am so gna bring my sis and mom here to have this again!

The signature dish of 49 seats, this silver dish (literally) of tom yum spaghetti has officially won the hearts of many on our table. I love how this unconventional dish unleashes the Tom Yum essence with just the right kick. & ofc I also love how crunchy and big the prawns were *love-strucked* (I am a fan of crunchy prawns!!!) How ingenious of them to have perfected the marriage of spaghetti and tom yum.

This dish hit the nail perfectly. It was soooooo good!
The sauce was the highlight and everyone's full of praises for it. Now, I secretly hope they do sell their sauce separately so we could all savor just as much as we want to without constraint! It goes really well with any and everything, even on its own. Nothing, and i mean nothing can beat Alskempi, my new found love.

Smoked Duck Pasta, didn't manage to try this so i'm entirely dependent on Amo's review. Being one of the favourites of many 49 seats patrons, this was gooooood enough for Amo :)
Jul had Genesis Fish, akin to a plate of fish cordon bleu. If you'd like a safe option, I suggest you opt for this dish cause seriously, you can't go too wrong with this! The fish was crispy, light, fresh and totally delish! Oh just look at the cheese would youuuuuu. Another dish i'd definitely order when I return ;) What ULTIMATE GOODNESS in your mouth.
Nothing's quite complete without desserts, so we decided to head to Ann Siang Hill for a good dessert n hangout place. It was really unfortunate that the sky bar was packed. A pity.... love the ambience & not forgetting these little strips of film decors that greeted us from the ceiling. How innovative yet nostalgic.
Settled for desserts at Bushells after walking aimlessly for a hangout place for an hour-ish!
